The primary care physician (PCP) must ensure timely receipt of the specialist's report. For Medi-Cal members, reports from specialty services for consultations or procedures must be in the member's chart within 15 days. If the PCP does not receive the specialist's report within 15 days, the PCP must contact the specialist to obtain the report. For urgent and emergency cases, the specialist must initiate a telephone report to the PCP as soon as possible, and a written report must be received within 15 days.
