Health Net participates in the annual HEDIS® Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) Medi-Cal Member Experience Survey, which is required for NCQA Health Plan Accreditation. In addition, for Medi-Cal, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) requires the CAHPS survey and contracts with the Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) to administer it.
The CAHPS survey gathers member feedback on the quality, availability, and accessibility of care, satisfaction with services, and reasons for using out-of-network providers. Results are used to identify opportunities for improvement and to develop corrective action plans that enhance the member experience and overall quality of care.
Member experience is a key measure in health care, as positive patient experiences are associated with improved clinical outcomes, including prevention and disease management. Health Net uses CAHPS results to evaluate the effectiveness of improvement efforts and guide ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
Any necessary improvement plans are developed based on the results of these surveys. For additional information on CAHPS improvement refer to Improve CAHPS Result (PDF).
