23-501 Resources to Help Medi-Cal Patients Keep Their Coverage

Date: 06/15/23

Inform patients about redetermination

The Medi-Cal program, which provides no- and low-cost health care coverage for 15 million Californians, has resumed asking Medi-Cal patients to review and renew their eligibility information. Two to three million people are expected to lose their Medi-Cal coverage over the next year, according to state estimates. Remind your Medi-Cal patients what actions to take to keep themselves and their families covered.

Resources for patient outreach

Please use the resources below to inform your Medi-Cal patients about important changes coming through the Medi-Cal redetermination process:

  • Your Health Net Medi-Cal Coverage is Important – Don’t Lose It flyer – Hand out the attached flyer (English (PDF) and Spanish (PDF)) to remind your patients on how to verify their Medi-Cal eligibility. The flyer is also available in the Education, Training and Other Materials section of the Provider Library.
  • The following resources make it easy for you to advise patients about redetermination. To access resources go to HN Provider Review to Renew Toolkit.
    • Email template – Send emails directly to patients using sample messaging.
    • Web language – Update your website to help direct current Medi-Cal patients to the right place to confirm their eligibility.
    • Social media graphics and suggested copy – Post to your social media platforms to inform patients and provide guidance on how to take action to avoid coverage disruption.
    • Digital flyer – Print and share with patients or set it out in waiting rooms and exam rooms for them to review on their own.
