What the assessment includes

Capitated, delegated PPGs must show their network meets these standards:

  • Provider-to-member ratios – Enough primary care physicians (PCPs) and specialists for patient population.
  • Time and distance – Patients can access care within required travel time and distance.

What PPGs must do

  • Allow members to receive care outside your network when needed.
  • Cannot limit access to only in-network providers if gaps exist,
  • Approve out-of-network care when medically necessary.

Impacts of not meeting standards

PPGs that do not meet requirements may:

  • Be placed on a corrective action plan.
  • Be at risk for network participating eligibility.
