26-326 Updated IHSS Application Requirements

Date: 03/16/26

A new timeline limit for Personal Care and Homemaker Services is effective May 18, 2026

Effective May 18, 2026, the Personal Care and Homemaker Services authorization documents will include a new time limit for pending In‑Home Supportive Services (IHSS) applications.

Under these new requirements, if an IHSS application has been pending for more than three months and proof of application status is not provided, the initial authorization request and extension request will be denied.

What providers need to do

Ensure IHSS application status is current and documentation is submitted within the required timeframe to avoid authorization denials.

For complete details and guidance, review the Personal Care and Homemaker Services Authorization Guide on the CalAIM provider resources page at CalAIM Resources for Providers under Forms & Tools > Community Supports.
