25-1393 Reminder: Complete Cultural Humility and Competency Training by December 31

Empower inclusive care by meeting your compliance requirements

To support equitable, culturally responsive care, and to meet compliance requirements under the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) All Plan Letter (APL) 24-016, plan contracts, and/or NCQA1 Health Equity and Accreditation standards, all physicians, health care providers, staff, subcontractors, and downstream subcontractors must complete the Cultural Humility, Competency and Equity in Healthcare training.2

Who must complete the training and when?

  • New hires: Within 90 days of start date and annually thereafter.
  • Existing providers: Annually by December 31.

Note: You only need to complete the training through one health plan, even if notified by multiple plans.

Ongoing compliance responsibilities

Participating physician groups, physicians, other providers and affiliated organizations must:

  • Ensure all direct patient care providers complete the training.
  • Track completion and collect attestations for group/onsite sessions.
  • Maintain records for audits and compliance verification.

How to complete the training and submit attestation

  • If you have access to Health Net’s Relias platform:
  1. Visit Relias Authentication.
  2. Complete the “Cultural Humility, Competency and Equity in Healthcare” course.
  3. Submit your attestation through the platform.
  • If you do not have Relias access:
  1. Access the training at Cultural Humilty Competency Equity.
  2. Submit your attestation through Cultural Humility Training.
  • Submit an attestation from another plan’s training

If you completed the training with another health plan, submit attestation at Cultural Humility Training. Completion will be shared across all plans.

This training helps physicians and other providers:

  • Understand health needs of diverse racial, ethnic, social and cultural groups.
  • Respect differing beliefs and values in health care settings.
  • Deliver equitable, culturally competent care.
  • Improve care quality and promote health equity across California.
