The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) offers Enhanced Care Management for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness Spotlight to help contracted and prospective Enhanced Care Management (ECM) providers find out how ECM is delivered – and Community Supports are coordinated – for people experiencing homelessness. It is intended to help future ECM providers get started and current ECM providers refine their ECM program for Medi-Cal members experiencing homelessness.1

This Spotlight is part of a series of ECM Spotlights that DHCS is releasing to support those looking for more detail on how providers tailor ECM to meet the needs of different Populations of Focus (POFs).

What’s in the Spotlight?

You will find the below information in the Spotlight:1

  • Operational guidance for the POF, individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
  • Stories of how ECM might support two Medi-Cal members in this POF.
  • Extensive resources for assessing your organization’s capacity to contract with managed care plans as an ECM provider.

The Spotlight is available on the DHCS ECM and Community Supports webpage Enhanced Care Management for individuals experiencing homelessness (PDF).

Providers are encouraged to access the provider portal for real-time information, including eligibility verification, claims status, prior authorization status, plan summaries, and more. If you have questions regarding the information contained in this update, contact CalViva Health at 888-893-1569. Behavioral Health providers can call at 844-966-0298.
