24-1045 Let Pediatric Medi-Cal Members Know: Online Therapy is Available in Select School Districts Through Hazel Health

Students can see a licensed therapist in Hazel partner school districts

Hazel Health is a Health Net contracted provider who works with school districts to provide online therapy. Services can be accessed at home and in most cases, at school.

Any student in Hazel Health partner school districts can get matched with their own licensed therapist for weekly 1-on-1 counseling.

  • It’s online. Pediatric members can join therapy sessions from any connected device.
  • It’s confidential. No information is shared with the school without parent/guardian consent.
  • It’s for everyone. A diverse, multilingual therapist team speaks over 19 languages.

Licensed therapists specialize in helping children and teens understand and cope with what they’re feeling. Common reasons for referral to Hazel services can include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Mood changes
  • Self esteem
  • Change and transitions
  • Grief/loss
  • Loneliness
  • Academic stress
  • Bullying
  • Anger management

To get started, Medi-Cal members can visit Hazel Health webpage. Families can self-refer, and prior authorization is not required for an appointment.

This information applies to Physicians, Participating Physician Groups (PPGs), Hospitals, Ancillary Providers, Community Supports (CS) Providers, Enhanced Care Management (ECM) Providers, and Behavioral Health Providers.

For Medi-Cal, this information applies to Los Angeles, Sacramento, Stanislaus, and Tulare counties.
