23-1192m Upcoming Change: Wellcare By Health Net Offers an Easier Way to Access Utility Assistance and More in 2024
Date: 10/20/23
Read on to learn how this change impacts you and the D-SNP members you serve.
Effective January 1, 2024, Wellcare By Health Net (Health Net) will replace special supplemental benefits for chronically ill (SSBCI) benefits with value-based insurance design (VBID) programs. These VBID programs through our new SpendablesTM debit card provide richer benefits to all California D-SNP members.
How this affects you
As a trusted partner in your patients' care, we encourage you to educate your D-SNP patients about the benefits available in 2024 through the VBID program. These benefits include assistance with paying for utilities, rent, healthy food, and gasoline at the pump. The amount provided each month rolls over to the next month if it is not used.
Refer to the table below for more details about this change:
Calendar year | Program type | Attestation requirement | Program benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
2023 | SSBCI | Required | Utility assistance |
2024 | VBID – Spendables debit card | Not required |

Member notification
