Studies have shown implicit bias as a potential contributor to inequalities in marginalized and minority communities. This training will help participants broaden their awareness of their personal cultural script and implicit biases. Participants will also be equipped with tools to engage with pregnant, birthing and postpartum clients with increased cultural sensitivity and humility. The session is one and a half hours. No CME/CEUs are offered.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define cultural humility, implicit vs. clear bias.
- Identify and assess personal implicit biases (subtle, unconscious, assumptions).
- Use techniques to engage in culturally sensitive and humble ways with pregnant, birthing and postpartum individuals.
