22-516 Some of Your Patients Will Transition to Different Plans on January 1, 2023

This information applies to Physicians, Participating Physician Groups (PPGs), Hospitals, and Ancillary providers.

Learn how this transition impacts you and your patients

As a trusted partner to your patient’s health care, your patients may come to you for answers about health insurance-related plan and coverage questions. Below provides:

  • Answers to questions your Health Net patients might have about upcoming plan changes.
  • Answers to questions you might have about how these changes impact you.

Additional information will be distributed later in the year about these commercial product transitions.

What plans are transitioning?

Effective January 1, 2023, members who are currently enrolled in 2022 Ambetter PPO insurance plans underwritten by Health Net Life Insurance Company will transition to the Ambetter PPO plan offered by Health Net of California, Inc.1

Additionally, upon renewal in 2023, many Health Net Employer Group PPO plans will be offered by Health Net of California, Inc. instead of Health Net Life Insurance Company and certain Employer Group PPO and EPO plans will retire.1

How does this change impact you?

There are no operational, business integration or contract changes. Your business will continue under the terms of your current Health Net Provider Participation Agreement (PPA). If there are any administrative changes in the future, we will notify you immediately.

When will members be notified?

  • Members impacted by this transition will be notified at the end of June that their plan is changing on January 1, 2023.
  • Members will have coverage on their existing plan through
    December 31, 2022.

2022 Ambetter PPO2

Members will transition to a new Ambetter PPO plan offered through Health Net of California, Inc. 1

To become effective, the member must pay the plan premium.

For additional information, refer members to Member Services using the number on the back of their member ID card.

Ambetter EPO and Off exchange full network PPO2

Plans will be retired. Members will need to choose another plan offering.

For additional information, refer members to Member Services using the number on the back of their member ID card.

Small Business Groups and Large Groups2

Certain plans are retiring upon renewal.

Refer the member to their employer. The member’s employer will decide on the employer’s new plan.

Covered California for Small Business2

Certain plans are retiring.

Refer the member to their employer. The member’s employer will decide on the employer’s new plan.
