21-812 Use Acccess2Care for Medicare Members

New transportation vendor starts January 1, 2022

Access2Care™ is the new contracted provider for Wellcare By Health Net (Health Net) Medicare members’ transportation needs, effective January 1, 2022.

Which benefits are included

  • All supplemental transportation benefits.

The arrangement with Access2Care also includes shared-risk Medicare members who have:

  • Standard transportation benefits only (ambulance and stretcher van transports).

How financial risk works for standard transportation

Participating physician groups (PPGs) or hospitals who have risk for standard transportation as described in the Division of Financial Responsibility (DOFR):

  • Must arrange for standard transportation in a timely manner with their own contracted provider.
  • If the PPG or hospital does not arrange for standard transportation, Wellcare By Health Net will approve and arrange transportation. A capitation payment deduction from the responsible party will be processed.

Wellcare By Health Net is responsible for all supplemental transportation benefits, which will be arranged and provided by Access2Care.

Please note: ModivCare™ will continue to provide transportation services for Cal MediConnect, Commercial and Medi-Cal members.

Hours of operation

Access2Care's business hours for scheduled routine reservations are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time. Transportation services require at least 48 hours' advance notice. Access2Care is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to schedule trips for both urgent care needs and immediate transportation needs.
