21-423 Prior Authorization Extensions Ending

This information applies to Medi-Cal in Fresno, Kings and Madera counties.

On August 19, 2021, prior authorizations are valid three months after approval

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the three-month time span for prior authorization (PA) requests was extended to six months. This allowed CalViva Health members the ability to schedule services when providers and facilities may have had limited capacities.

Starting August 19, 2021, all PAs will return to a three-month time span. We will continue to honor current PAs with the extended time until the expiration date.
