Help support patient recovery from opioid use disorder (OUD) during the COVID-19 public health emergency
The COVID-19 virus presents challenges to our most vulnerable members. To reduce negative health outcomes, Health Net* urges health care providers to support the continuation of behavioral and medical health services through telehealth and related technologies. The communication and care between health care teams and members can be supported outside traditional treatment settings.
Opioid Addiction Recovery Support (OARS) is an innovative health care team portal with a patient mobile application tool that connects to a care team dashboard. OARS enables providers to manage areas of OUD treatment using telehealth capabilities in addition to in-person patient encounters. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) clinics and providers willing to help test OARS in the primary care setting as part of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded study with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) will receive access to extensive tools that support patients during their path to recovery.
Participation
Primary care provider sites with the following can help test the effectiveness of OARS:
- Minimum 35 patients treated for OUD using MAT over a 20-month period.
- Able to take part in the study over a 20-month period.
Incentives available
- Receive incentives up to $6,000 per provider site.
- Free use of OARS technology post study for up to two years.
Interested providers should visit the Q2i website for study information and submit an application to take part.
OARS mobile app
Patients using the OARS mobile app can be better connected to and supported by their health care team. The app can help providers support patients through:
- Improved ownership and adherence to treatment plans.
- Increased patient engagement.
- Fewer relapses.
- Decreased inpatient admissions or readmissions.
- Reduced program dropouts.
- Reduced emergency room (ER) visits.
The OARS mobile app is available for download on iPhone through the Apple Store and Android phones through Google Play. For more information on the OARS mobile application.
