2019–2020 influenza vaccine recommendations

Use the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) link to find out more about the flu vaccine. Refer to the CDC website at www.cdc.gov/flu/professionals/vaccination/index.htm for more about:

  • Prevention and control with recommended practice guidelines.

        -    Plus age requirements, dosing, contraindications, and timing of vaccines.

  • Products, supply and distribution.
  • Patient education.

The CDC website has the most updated information on this topic to keep you informed during the flu season.

Benefits, barriers and checking to see if a member has had a flu shot

As a member’s provider you can share the benefits and also address any concerns they may have about getting the vaccine. Providers should offer the vaccine as soon as it is available, until May.

Health Net* and CalViva Health urge providers to ask members if they have had a flu shot during office visits. Or tell them about sites where they can go get the vaccine without an appointment.

Claim submission for the flu vaccine

Reimbursement for flu vaccines is in accordance with the terms of the provider’s contract and the Medi-Cal plan.
